Jim Elliot was a missionary who is remembered for his devotion to spreading the gospel among the unreached Huaorani tribe in the rainforests of Ecuador. Born in 1927, Elliot felt a strong calling for mission work from a young age. Despite knowing the dangers, Elliot and his team made contact with the Huaorani tribe, which had a history of violence against outsiders. Tragically, Elliot and four fellow missionaries were killed by tribe members in 1956. However, their sacrifice ultimately led to many Huaorani people embracing Christianity, including some of those involved in the killings.
He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose. – Jim Elliot
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. – Hebrews 12:1
