What Went Wrong? | Why the World Is Broken (Genesis 3)

Last time, we saw that the God of the Bible is not distant or impersonal—but personal, purposeful, and good. He created a world that was ordered, intentional, and called “good.”

So what happened?

If the world was created good… why does it now feel broken?

In this episode of the Seeker Series, we walk through Genesis 3—the moment everything changed. The fall of humanity didn’t begin with violence. It began with a question: “Has God indeed said…?” In this chapter, two explanations of reality collide. God says one thing will happen. The serpent presents a different explanation. And humanity is confronted with which explanation is true.

In this video, we explore:

How the serpent’s strategy introduces doubt and distortion

The difference between being deceived and acting against what is known to be true

Why the tree was there in the first place

What God meant when He said “you will surely die”

How humanity lost access to the source of life

Genesis 3 isn’t just about a forbidden fruit. It’s about trust, truth, and the loss of life itself. The broken world we experience today begins here.

But this raises an even bigger question: If humanity has lost access to life… how would we even know if God is doing something about it? That’s what we’ll begin exploring next.
