They are not the same thing

This house that you see behind me, it's my home. A lot of people treat getting into heaven and being a good disciple is the same thing, but they're not. Your home with God is already settled if you've believed in Jesus. Whether your work lasts is a different question altogether. First Corinthians 3:15 says, if anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as though through fire. Saved either way, reward only if it lasts.

Your eternal home is guaranteed, but your success as a disciple is not.

This week, the NFL is arguing about guaranteed money on a contract. A player can have the dollars guaranteed and still have a really bad season. The contract is settled, but the year isn't. The same split happens in the faith. If you've believed in Jesus, your home with God is guaranteed. Whether your work lasts is a whole different question. 1 Corinthians 3:15 says if anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. Saved either way, reward only if it lasts.
