This weekend I got to preach at Burleson Bible Church on a tension I used to misunderstand: salvation by grace was clear, but discipleship still felt like try-harder forever.
Scripture pictures a war inside every believer—flesh on one side, spirit on the other, and the mind caught in the middle. Where we set that mind decides whether we live in death or in the abundant life Jesus promised.
I walked through that war from Galatians 5 and Romans 7–8: the spirit that cannot sin, the flesh that wants all of you, and the mind in between—and why setting the mind on the Spirit (and on things above) is how abundant life and the fruit of the Spirit come within reach.
