Have you been in a tornado? Do you remember what that was like?
The sky got dark. Real dark. There were swirling clouds of grey and blue and black.
The wind started blowing with a roar and whoosh. Leaves flew everywhere. Trees bent with the wind. Beach balls and umbrellas were flying through the air. Maybe you heard the tornado sirens wailing.
You tried to go someplace safe. Maybe you had a storm cellar in your backyard or a tornado shelter in your garage. Or maybe your parents hid you in your closet, under a great big oak table, or in the bathtub with a mattress over you for protection. They wanted you to be safe—as safe as possible. But did you feel safe? Probably not! You were as safe as you could be—but not completely.
And yet, we all need to feel safe to be healthy and happy. God knows that. That’s why He made a fantastic promise. Here it is:
“Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will never cast out” (John 6:37).
Jesus said He would never cast you out if you came to Him. Never. In other words, if you believe in Him, you are safe forever!
The Apostle Paul was convinced of that. He said, “neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom 8:39). Nothing can separate you from God’s love in Jesus either. Not the darkest clouds, the strongest winds, or the scariest tornadoes.
Once you come to Jesus, He’ll never cast you out, and you’ll be safe forever because nothing is stronger than God’s love for you. Not even a tornado.
